Recreational Therapy Students
Recreational Therapy Program offers highly competitive internships for a minimum 15-week internship at the Brooks Inpatient Hospital, Pediatric Adaptive Recreation and our Brooks Bartram Aging Services Division. Please be aware that the applicant must cover all expenses connected to the internship. Brooks Rehabilitation does not offer financial compensation.
During a Recreational Therapy Internship with Brooks Inpatient Rehabilitation you will experience and engage in: 1:1 treatment sessions with patients, small and large groups (cooking, horticulture, art and music therapy groups) as well as community reintegration outings, reporting in Team Conference, educational opportunities, and many more. There are also volunteer opportunities through the Brooks Clubhouse, Brooks Adaptive Sports Program, and Aquatic Therapy.
During a Recreation Therapy Internship with Pediatric Adaptive Recreation you will experience program development in a community setting for youth with physical, developmental, and sensory impairments. Classes involve fitness, aquatics, socialization opportunities, community outings, and special events.
The Brooks Bartram Aging Services Division offers the opportunity to learn and develop skills in all aspects of Senior Services including but not limited too; short and long term care, MDS, care planning, regulatory compliance, administration, budget and finance, performing group activity/initiatives, 1:1’s, community based programming for SNF, ALF and Memory care.
